S'ils souhaitent revoir la lumière du jour et récupérer. À l'insu de leurs ravisseurs, la montagne est criblée d'anciens tunnels, donjons et tombes construites par des civilisations effondrées qui ont péri depuis longtemps. Un groupe de prisonniers est condamné à une mort certaine en les exilant sur le mont Grimrock isolé pour des crimes ignobles qu'ils ont pu ou non avoir commis.
